The weekend in Tokyo was chilly but the cherry blossoms were in full
bloom. We should be take good care of ourselves in this chilly spring.
* Activity Report 2009 is now online==================================
The annual activity report 2009 in Japanese is now online at
Polaris
Japan's website.
The Tokyo office made the organizational base more solid by becoming
an officially non-profit organization, certified by the Cabinet Office
of Japan.
The following numbers give you some of the highlights of 2009...
348 phone calls to our hotline (356 in 2008)
43 cases of direct services to victims (e.g. accompanying victims to the
public services, the police, etc) (24 in 2008)
2,781 participants to the speeches made by
Polaris staff (2,213 in 1008),
including 1,080 people who attended the speeches made for the police,
the immigration bureau, the government, and educational professions
650 people attended
Polaris monthly seminar "How do we stop commercial
sexual exploitation of children?" (since February 2009-) (0 in 2008)

* Saturday, April 17 Symposium on the background of Troubled Youth=======
Polaris Japan will join as a panelist for the Tokyo Metro government's
symposium on the background of Troubled Youth on April 17, starting
at 1:30pm.
Polaris staff will be discussing the issue with the staff from other
organizations that are well experienced in the field of child advocacy.
Anyone can attend the event, so please come hear the talk.
