Polaris Project is a multicultural grassroots organization combating human trafficking and modern-day slavery. Based in Japan and the United States, our passionate staff combine street-level experience and technical expertise, working everyday to provide victim services, conduct advocacy, and build the anti-trafficking movement. At Polaris Project Tokyo office, our staff work on projects to combat trafficking in Japan, especially the sexual exploitation of women and children.
Polaris Project aims to help victims recover from the effects of psychological abuse, beatings, death threats, sexual assault and the resulting lack of self-esteem and self-determination. In collaboration with law enforcement, local communities and trafficking victims, Polaris Project is endeavoring to strengthen the anti-trafficking movement and build strategies to eliminate this heinous crime.
There is a lack of legal protection and easily accessible help for women and youth who are sexually exploited. In response to this, Polaris Japan will advocate and provide support for those in danger of becoming victims and assist their search for positive changes in their lives.
